He's in the smaller tank in the basement. I'm afraid that the puffer would eat him in the big tank and he would cause destruction a mayhem in the reef

The brites are real direct and many faceted and the arcs are not as faceted, so the light is spread out. That is my interpritation of it anyway.

As for the heat. I've finally bought two different fans, one is a clip on and the other is larger, has a hole in the stand to hang on the wall and three speeds. A honeywell i think, i bought it at home depot. As long as i have the fans going my chiller doesn't run.

I've turned off the clip on fan and have the larger on the timer with the one halide light currently working on my tank. I did hear the chiller come on last night. My tank is in the basement and i've been busy with harvest, running the swather and now plowing so i don't get down there as much as i should.

It seems to me if one has the space to raise the lights off the surface of the water, that would help control the water tempurature, keeping the water cooler.

I have the Mini IIIs and I really like them. Lighting is a matter of personal preference though and is so influenced by the design of the tank. Not so much an issue if you have an inwall tank with room to raise the lights or do not have a canopy. Space could be a consideration with the Lumenbrights if you have a canopy.

the spot light effect is bright, but i wonder if the luminarc would be better due to the coverage of the light

There is quite a discussion in the first ten pages or so. A short summary is that the 16% increase in par value is created in the center of the reflector (note the diagrams by Hannmeister I think). When the par values are compared to Lumenarcs, the 16% is null as the area or spread is compared. They tend to produce a spot light effect focusing the majority of the light directly under the reflector and producing diminished light in the areas between the reflectors, and front, back, and sides of the tank. The spread can be widened by increasing the distance between the top of the water and the reflector to a generally recommended distance of around 14 inches however, that reduces the par value somewhat.

Ok, sun polyps are sold and gone, several zoa's sold and gone, big purple mushroom rock sold. Anyone interested in tanks let me know, I'm taking offers on all livestock now. I will keep the equipment and tanks if necessary but i really want to get rid of the livestock.

I have figured out what the future plans are for the aquarium at that point. Going to pull out the biomatter out of the skimmer and let the life that is in it migrate to the main tank. After that has happened, the magnum and the other biofilter are coming off and being replaced by heavy duty powerheads.

The biomass will come out of the skimmer **when** I can get the time and energy to pull the skimmer to clean it. Not sure when that will be.

Brian i still have the mushrooms with oyster, oyster still alive too, and i think the shroom is three now. If you want i'll sell it back to you for the same price. As
I am coming down to crunch time I will entertain all offers on the livestock. I just don't want them to die...and i don't have the stability in my life right now to take care of them properly. 20 days and counting....
